Enjoying nature is almost sacrosanct for those who find comfort through reflection while being outside. And that does not stop even in the cold of winter.
The blanket of snow goes on forever
Cool breezes cruise through the air
Footsteps echo with the crunch of snow
The joy of winter we’ll not outgrow
Winter sun shines through the trees
Glistening off both snow and ice
Shadows cast under laden branches
Falling snow like small avalanches
Frozen creeks and ice-covered marshes
Trails no longer under just the trees
Hills and valleys hidden by the snow
Makes walking fun and yet oh so slow
Footprints left in the snow
The deer have been, not so long ago
The rabbits too have left their mark
One wonders what moves in the dark.
We see the flashes of red and blue
Cardinals on branches; blue jays too
Chickadees dart in amongst the trees
All of them seeking nuts and seeds.
Like a stroll through an artist’s landscape
Nature’s beauty is in each dab and stroke
A delightful walk in quiet reflection
Through the woods of God’s perfection.
