Written during the summer of 2019, this poem speaks to the beauty that comes from within.
Beauty comes in all kinds of forms
It could be a sunset or a thunderstorm
It comes from a painting or music that soars
Or the feeling one gets from being outdoors.
Then there’s the beauty that comes from a smile
Or the splendour of visiting the emerald isle
Indescribable beauty is the birth of a child
And heavenly is the sweet taste of blueberries wild
Beauty is in the eye as the old saying goes
Yet there is a truth that everyone knows
For beauty is not only what shows on the skin
Its sustaining power comes from the glow within
The symbol is the heart but it’s really one’s soul
That defines the core to the body whole
The soul depicts our values and who we really are
The source of our beauty and guiding north star
The soul determines our words and the actions we take
Reflecting our beauty in a way we can’t fake
If we nurture this beauty and sing our own song
Our life will be better and our beauty ever strong.
