Dare to dream! This world we live in is so very sick, and unfortunately there are so many individuals, including many who have great influence who appear to have lost their way. The challenges for all of us are huge, and until we can each seriously begin behaving and expecting others to behave in a respectful manner, we are in trouble. And by that I mean, stop with the negativity; start listening for solutions that benefit the other party as much as one’s own; stop destructive behaviour; address issues based on science as opposed to idealogy. Can you imagine a world without threats and war
Where conflict is resolved by listening and without the roar
Where respect for others is king and the driving force
And helping ones’ neighbours is a matter of course
Can you imagine a world where discourse is not full of hate
Where differences are discussed without having to denigrate
Where ideas which are different are ways to improve or learn
Carefully shared and celebrated without having to spurn
Can you imagine a world where every wrong does not go to court
Where apologies mean something and legal means are a last resort
Where people are innocent until found guilty after due process
And lying is more of a crime and truth comes without duress
Can you imagine a world where there is equity and justice
Where wrongs are corrected and the vulnerable can ‘trust us’
Where power and influence are used to improve how we all live
And actions are taken quickly and aligned with the sorry and forgive
Can you imagine a world where we share knowledge and innovation
Where progress is for all and not only about owning the creation
Where learning is nurtured through accessible education for all
And risk taking encouraged by not having rules that build walls
Can you imagine a world where change and tradition are valued
Where cultural differences are respected without becoming unglued
Yet past wrongs are not exported and dictate future evolution
And harmony is achieved without extreme beliefs limiting solutions
Can you imagine a world where our water and air are in good shape
Where wildlife can live and garbage not dominate our landscape
Where the decisions we make are not only dollar and short term
More driven by quality of life and a sustainable future more firm
Can you imagine a world where resources are not controlled by the few
Where each person is valued and has the opportunity for wealth to accrue
Where individual energy is prime yet a societal net exists to protect
And investments in the future aim at global wellbeing and special effects
Can you imagine where we each have sunshine and rain in our life
Where we have hope, love and peace; and a future without strife
Where when we awake, we have shelter and food on our table
And a healthy life is not uncertain but intrinsically stable
