Silence is violence. If we are to acknowledge and address major issues like gender-based violence and femicide, it is the responsibility of everyone, but especially allies in positions of power and privilege, to amplify the voices of those experiencing violence and oppression, and demand change at both the societal and systemic levels. Now is the time for each of us to use our unique gifts and skillsets to actively get involved in this struggle and show up for our community members. I commend George for doing just that – un/learning through listening and being present, having the sensibility and compassion to zoom out and understand the bigger picture, determining what role he plays in this widespread and interconnected issue, and using his leadership position to set an example for the men and other folks in his sphere and beyond. Thank you for sharing these stories with us!
