I wrote this poem this month (January 2025). It speaks to my growth as a person and my commitment to be the best I can be as I stay true to who I am and aspire to be.
All of Me
I’ve walked a long way; a long way do I roam
My life’s been a journey but I know I am home
Looking for my soul; for my soul to be set free
Being true to myself where I can be all of me
Life is not simple nor meant to be lived with ease
With moments when we are down on our knees
Knocked down and about in ways unforeseen
Getting back up is our way of truly being seen
We make mistakes for it is one way we do learn
Stretching for tomorrow and the dreams we yet yearn
Coming up short when we stumble or perhaps fall
Or serve first ourself in a world that is so small
Reconciliation with expectations and all of our needs
Softening the edges and the drive to succeed
Enjoying the moments and pausing to reflect
Recognizing and respecting the grand architect
Being humble to our calling, to align our head with heart
Is not only the wise way but is the way which is smart
Finding contentment with our choices and how we live
Our spirit is stronger with less taking and more give
I will continue to walk and aspire to be my best
To enjoy the journey until I lay my head down to rest
Sharing the foot path with those whose life I do share
My heart beats with love for those whom I do care.
