On March 5th, 2026, I was able to ‘publish’ my most recent compilation of poetry and writings. I started to do this several years ago after beginning to write in December 2016. Now nine plus years later, and approximately 150 poems/stories later, this compilation is my fourth. It includes forty poems, one short story and one essay.
The theme I chose this time was “Heartbeat” as the period of time covered by my writings has been nothing short of a heartbeat. From open heart surgery in February 2025 to a surge in Canadians finding and letting their heart beat so proudly over the past year, every heartbeat has mattered. Most importantly though was the birth of our first grandchild, Madeline Rose Lamothe on April 24, 2025. She makes my heartbeat stronger every time we get the opportunity to connect and even in moments where I simply get to look at a photo of her.
My compilations have all been published in that they are copyrighted, printed and available. Yet the primary reason I compile my writings is to provide a home other than a web site where those who may ever choose to read whatever I may write can easily find and retain my writings. I write mostly for myself but there is no question, that I get gratification when I hear back from someone who has connected with or been inspired by something I have written.
In Heartbeat, so much of what I write is in tribute or in standing up for what makes my heart beat.
