Christmas Eve

I like writing about Christmas. And Santa provides such a great story. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Written in December 2023.

It has been a long year up to this Christmas eve
With elves and Santa needing mental health leave
Supply chain challenges have added much stress
But even with that, the North Pole is a scene of success

The elves are now packing using Santa’s checklist
The reindeers are circling with Rudolph in their midst
Santa has napped and eaten his afternoon meal
He is now dressed and set to go behind the wheel

The clock is ticking with departure very soon
The weather forecast is for stars and a full moon
The reindeers are in harness and getting a rubdown
Everyone gathers for the final countdown

Out Santa comes with Mrs Santa close by his side
To even a stranger, she still looks like a bride
The two of them laugh, holding hands as they dance
Knowing this is the night they began their lifelong romance

With high fives all around, and a final kiss and embrace
Santa gets strapped in for his trip through the broad aerospace
He checks his hamper for drinks, food and supplies
Then a smile and a wink for all as he waves goodbye

With a three-two-one, the sleigh moves quickly ahead
Rudolph’s nose is a glowing a bright shiny red
Santa cheers ho-ho-ho; the reindeer lift their hooves
They are flying forward; it’s like nothing else moves

There is no more planning, the trip is underway
Next thing you’ll know it, it will be Christmas Day
The journey is long and they have to move very fast
But with lots of cookies and treats, he hopes to have a blast.

The goal is several billion stops to spread some joy
Be that with books or games, or fun family toys
Christmas is about the gifts of hope, peace and love
And part of that is Santa’s visit in a sleigh from above
