In March 2025, I added this poem to my Canadian poetry. Written to celebrate what makes us a proud nation despite any naysayers or the challenges we face.
Canada’s our nation; Canada is home
Canada’s our land where we’ll always roam
With three oceans around us and beautiful land
If ever provoked we’ll take a strong stand
Our people are native or we come from afar
We live together under the northern stars
We speak many languages but with one voice
Eh it’s Canadian, and that is our choice
We work the land and sail the high seas
Our climate can be darn hot or like a deep freeze
We’ve mountains and lakes, tundra and plains
Our rivers are mighty across our domains
Our values are freedom, respect, and common good
Diversity is a strength and that’s understood
We stand for justice and will fight for our friends
Our commitment to each other will never end
We’re fiercely determined and will never give in
A humble quiet people, together is how we win
We overcome challenges that teach us a lot
And at the end of the day, we’ll never be bought
We learn from the past but are looking ahead
Like Canada geese with our wings wide spread
Leaders all but ready to support friends and allies
Proudly together we stand without compromise
