I wrote this poem on March 1, 2026 for the purpose of sharing warmth, light and joy with words meant to brighten our day. I could have gone on forever and in the face of a world mixed with darkness and challenges, I believe a few words which focus on the positive and pleasure can only help. Feel free to bring your best and to spread the joy!
Colours brighten our day be they red, orange, yellow, or pink
Sunny rays spread light and warmth, and make our eyes blink
Apples, berries, oranges and pears with juices dripping on our chins
Lively music that spreads joy from harmonicas, guitars and mandolins
Bright coloured humming birds, robins, cardinals, finches and blue jays
Night skies lit up with planets, galaxies, shooting stars and moon rays
Faces with glowing eyes, warm smiles and dimples that dance
Books that intrigue with mystery, history, science and even romance
Raindrops which bring moisture, puddles and feed our plants
Cuddly clothes that bring warmth such as hoodies and droopy sweatpants
Cries of laughter and smiles which are sure signs of both joy and fun
Butter melting on warm bread, scones, croissants, and a hot cross bun
Dolls, robots, marbles, yo-yos, balls to play with are all kinds of toys
Monkeys, elephants, hippos, lions and gorillas which make lots of noise
Recognition and comfort with a pat on the back or a friendly hug
Man’s best friend at your feet be it a poodle, retriever, boxer or pug
Tulips, carnations, roses, daffodils, and all flowers that bloom
Songs which lift the spirit or soothe the soul from across the room
Carrots, tomatoes, corn, beans, spices and all plants that grow
Family gatherings and friends by your side who make the heart glow
