In Honour of Thee

This is a prayer of gratitude, and recognises my journey of spirituality ands well-being. I offer this prayer to the God in which I believe in thankfulness for all that we have been gifted including each other and even our imperfections. I wrote this March 3, 2026 as a reminder of our every day growth and possibilities in service to a greater power.

You gave me a voice to speak up and to sing
So as to be heard when there’s something to say or rejoice
Not to drown out others or to overwhelm
But to share my convictions and be part of life’s choir
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me ears to listen and to hear
So as to learn, develop and to work with others
Not to stay quiet and blissfully unaware
But to collaborate, to share and bring justice for all
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me a brain with reason and the power of choice
So as to be creative, to learn and to wisely discern
Not to live in judgement nor to behave as if right or the best
But to responsibly contribute and challenge when there’s a need
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me eyes to see and to observe
So as to realize what we have and what there is all about
Not to gaze without seeing the power of our actions and words
But to identify opportunity and to enjoy our gifts
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me hands, feet and limbs to use and move
So as to create, journey and to help others in need
Not to misuse our resources nor to beat and tromp
But to responsibly handle what we have while we further explore
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me body in which to be whole
So as to bring together the physical, mind and soul
Not to be dominant nor to wear others out
But to represent our ensemble of diversity and total worth
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me talents to nurture and to use
So as to contribute and celebrate our journey and accomplishments
Not to neglect nor abuse our earth and those with whom we live
But to make a difference in our journey through life
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me and each of us all that we need to live
So as to collectively manage all of our gifts here on earth
Not to fight, to destroy nor to play power games
But to live in peace and contentment with hope and a tomorrow
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee

You gave me imperfection as the greatest of all gifts
So as to remind me that I’m human, need others and can always improve
Not to provide me a reason not to give it my best and my all
But to say I don’t always have to be okay; that living is getting up when I fall
Humbly and gratefully in honour of thee
