Written in July 2018, this is a poem that draws the similarities of rain and tears, or the actions of raining and crying. Not very complicated…
The rain has started falling, one drop becoming many
The tears have started rolling, a lot from scarcely any
The rainfall comes from heaven and the ever-‐darkening skies
The tears fed by the soul, through the corners of our eyes.
One could see the rain was coming with the formation of the clouds
Yet the tears came on suddenly, all emotions completely enshroud
How is it that we pay attention to the changes up above
Yet do not see the pain or joy in those we claim to love.
The rain replenishes our water and nourishes the earth
While tears are a reflection of our sadness or our mirth
We do not control the rain but it is often in our prayers
We usually fight the tears back in case it shows we care.
Rain and tears wash and clean both the inside and the out
Performing an essential function of that there is no doubt
We welcome the rain when the world becomes too hot and dry
We need to do the same with tears more often when we cry.
Rain drops come from heaven when the eyes of angels overflow
Tear drops complement smiles and laughter, allowing us to glow
Rain drops are a gift of nature as they refresh and jumpstart
Tear drops come from deep within us, a reflection of our heart.
