Colour My Heart Crazy

I wrote this in August 2018, and I wrote it with a refrain and verses like I sometimes do. The poem is a testimony to my much better half, Line.

Refrain
It began the day you and I met; my heart went out to you
Your smile lightens up rooms; your eyes send clear messages too
You brighten my days when you’re with me; and when you’re not, they’re so blue You colour my heart crazy, crazy in love with you.

Verses
We walk down the street and where we go, I get to hold hands with you

You have one thousand purses, and almost as many shoes

There have been times where I’ve been naughty, and sometimes not very nice

You’ve chosen to forgive and love me, and to once again throw the dice

We talk a different language sometimes; I’m not always sure what you say

I’m not always sure you hear me, but I know you’ll let me know some day

There’s time we’re not on the same wavelength; not even in the same park

Despite all that, we complete each other, be it daytime or in the dark

We love to travel the world but won’t go in the same shops or stores

You count the stars when we travel but I’ve seen you stay outdoors

There are days you piss me off; and I know the same is true for you too

We get through those days with some effort, knowing we won’t say adieu

The end of the world may be coming but you’ll go shopping merrily

The end of the world is not far enough for you to go for our family

You love our dog in that funny way, petting him when you think we don’t see

You love to keep on giving, and you do not even give up on me

You’ll dance in the car as if no one is watching yet don’t sing too many songs

You love playing with our flowers, and go to hockey games just to be along

You leave the lights on through the house and won’t put gas in our cars

You do all of that and I love you for these are all a part of who you are

Thank you for being here with me, for sharing your laughter and tears

Thank you for living our dreams, through all kinds of hopes and fears

Thank you for saying yes long ago when I went down on bended knee

Thank you for loving me as you do; and for giving your heart to me.
