Written in March 2025, I was inspired to write this as I considered how I am important yet a speck in the world, and how the real difference we make is by being and acting together. Together, we are unstoppable.
Alone I am but a light in the dark
Not even a flame but maybe a spark
On my own not likely to show much ahead
But with others aflame, we’ll know where to tread
Alone I am but a whisper in a crowd
Spoken ensemble we’re more than just loud
Our voices together are like a song
Lyrics and music making us strong
Alone I am but a note on a sheet
Unable to create even a beat
A sound on its own like maybe a test
Played as a composition is clearly best
Alone I am but a word on its own
No meaning or context that can be shown
Yet powerful with impact when in a phrase
Spoken with the power to reject or praise
Each on our own is the power of one
Unimaginably strong and second to none
With a commitment to grow and be our best
I can live a life and truly be blessed
Yet alone I’m essential but only a start
Together we’re one mind, body and heart
With one heartbeat and voice, we are a force
Unstoppable in the pursuit of the right course.
