I simply loved how King Charles so aptly captured the emotion and spirit of Canada when he inserted into the Throne Speech he read in May 2025, the reminder of those words which are so integral to our national anthem.
Powerful words that describe Canada to all
They tell of our past and that we’ll never fall
They remind us of how we’ve built our native home
From sea to sea under northern skies as our dome
True to ourselves, values and what we believe
True to truth and reconciliation so as to fully achieve
Standing for what’s right so to be on the high ground
True to our word so we’ll always know where to be found
North for we’re large from the 49th to the magnetic pole
North is the country where we bring our heart and soul
North for it’s a direction that aligns us with our place
We’ll never be mistaken when looked on from outer space
Strong is our resolution to always give our all
Bringing dedication and heart in order to stand tall
Strong is how we’re together and with our allies, fight
Strong is not being a bully but wisely using our might
Free is a societal responsibility and comes with choice
Free is what many fight and die for so as to have a voice
Free means we govern and grow by showing respect
Free is living each day fully in order to effect

A mantra to live by and to reflect our strength
To overcome any challenges no matter the size and length
We are the true north both strong and free
