Dare to Be

To accept what we know and who we are when there is possibly more, acknowledges comfort and perhaps less than our potential. This poem written in January 2026 speaks to ‘daring to be one’s best’ – ready to learn and grow, and giving 100% through it all. That said, replenishment of our energies and being open to support is essential so even in being our best, sometimes that means being alright with not always being okay.

Dare to be one’s best
One shot at a time
To always never rest
Being present and at your prime

Dare to be one’s best
We’re human so we will err
Not all in life is a test
Yet always we should care

Dare to be one’s best
With spoken words always kind
To strive for all in the quest
For perfect balance of heart and mind

Dare to be one’s best
Writing life’s tale we live to tell
Nurturing talents with which we’re blessed
Not to be perfect but to excel

Dare to be one’s best
Sometimes things have to change
This is your life; you’re not a guest
More than comfort, contentment is often strange

Dare to be one’s best
Not in just what we do but who we are
With positive attitude and a zest
Living humble yet as a shining star
